ABERDEENSHIRE: SCOTLAND'S CASTLE COUNTRY

BALMORAL CASTLE IS REOPENING ON 1 APRIL 2023

CANDACRAIG: A CASTLE AMONG CASTLES
Balmoral 3 580x387

Aberdeenshire is often referred to as Scotland's Castle Country, with the highest concentration of castles per acre anywhere else in the UK.

Balmoral Castle will reopen its doors to the public on 1 April until 31 July. It is only half an hour from Candacraig, and the ideal day out for our guests who wish to explore the estate loved and cherished by the Royal family since 1848.

The tour includes the ballroom and grounds. For the more active, we suggest a fantastic walk in the woodland where Queen Victoria built cairns to mark significant family events. You will be able to see the pyramid built in memory of Prince Albert's death; the sheer size of it is a testament to the huge grief Queen Victoria felt at his loss.

If history is your passion, we can suggest many more castles, military fortresses, ancient ruins, clan seats, and stately homes surrounded by formal gardens...or you may just want to spend time in Candacraig, your very own castle whilst you are staying with us.
