Meet Katrina Stratton, Event Manager

How long have you lived in the area, and how long have you been a member of the team at Candacraig?

I have lived in Strathdon for almost thirteen years working at Candacraig for the last three.

What is your favourite room at Candacraig and why?

I think my favourite room in the house would have to be the Drawing Room. The wood panelling and intricate plasterwork on the ceiling are beautiful. The stunning bay window is the perfect place to relax with a good book, for guests that is!

What guest experience that we have created at Candacraig has been the most memorable for you?

We once had a Bedouin tent attached to the front of the house. It was fantastic. You stepped from a traditional Scottish Baronial home into very authentic Arabian surroundings - except for the outside temperature!

Our guests love the house but spend a lot of time in the garden, what is your favourite outdoor area?
The barbecue and bonfire area is the perfect place to spend a summer's evening. It’s a great spot for a family gathering sampling some delicious food from the barbecue followed by s’mores and a few drams by the fire.

We pride ourselves to tell our guests anything is possible. Do you recall a particularly unusual request that we were unable to accommodate?

I think perhaps the only request we have had to decline was from a guest who wanted to travel back from the local pub (having sampled a few cocktails!) on the roof of the Land Rover!!
